Part of our partnership with PCSM and the University of Cumbria is setting up a research hub, with a clear and ambitious vision to strengthen research capacity and collaboration across North Cumbria. The Hub aims to build on the robust research infrastructure at NCIC including a focus on supporting Nurses, Midwives, Allied Health Professionals, and Paramedics.
It is fostering a vibrant community committed to evidence-based best practices across healthcare settings. Through a range of workshops and educational programmes, participants will also benefit from access to the expertise and resources of Imperial College, further enriching the learning environment and strengthening regional academic excellence.
Thanks to a £1.2 million award from the NIHR Imperial College Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), we have launched seven collaborative health research projects - each funded at £50,000 over two years.
These projects, led jointly by University of Cumbria researchers and NCIC clinicians, are tackling some of Cumbria’s most pressing healthcare challenges. Their aim is to generate new evidence, improve care pathways, and lay the foundations for future research funding.
By investing in local health professionals and researchers - nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, scientists and clinicians - the PCSM Research Hub is helping to build long-term research capacity in Cumbria.
