Governors are elected every year by our members and staff. If you want to be a public governor, you must be a member to stand in an election.

Members vote by post and online for the person they’d like to represent their constituency. There are 8 public constituencies:

  • Allerdale
  • Carlisle
  • Copeland
  • Eden
  • Furness
  • Lancashire
  • South Lakeland
  • North East England

You can nominate yourself to become a governor by writing a short biography about your skills and what you’re passionate about. To find out more about becoming a public governor and to discuss current vacancies, call our Governor Support Officer Harriet Mouat on 01228 603761 or email harriet.mouat@cumbria.nhs.uk

Staff vote in the same way for staff governors. There are 3 joint constituencies:
  • Allerdale and Copeland
  • Carlisle and Eden
  • Furness and South Lakeland

There are also 9 governors appointed to represent our partners throughout Cumbria.
