David Pollitt, Public Governor for Eden was recognised for his work as part of the former Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Learning Disability review team over the last three years.  Chair Prof Robin Talbot presented him with a certificate at the Governors Council last week and thanked him for his work.

David worked with Lesley Paterson, Associate Director of Nursing and Gavin Slater, Quality Governance Projects Manager in conducting the reviews.  Gavin said,

"David attended the reviews as part of the team, providing his valuable experience and opinion when reviewing how accessible our clinical services are for people with a Learning Disability.  On a rolling quarterly schedule the team have visited various inpatient and community services across the county, meeting with teams to discuss the pathway for people who access the service, how they are cared for, treated and supported in an individualised way that meets their specific needs.  For each visit conducted the team were amazed at the lengths staff would go to, to ensure that this was the case.

David has been an important part of this process, always happy to attend the visits, and not put off by some very early starts and long trips to Barrow or Millom.  A big thank you from Lesley and I”.

Ensuring that our service are accessible for people with a learning disability is now being taken forward in a different way across NCIC as it has now become a standard part of our care quality commission key line of enquiry and 15 steps reviews.
