Inaugural AHP awards – nominations now open

The inaugural AHP awards to celebrate Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have been launched.

The Allied Health Professions (AHPs) are the third largest clinical workforce in the health and care. The Trust employs over 600 AHPs and nearly 200 AHP support workers, plus a growing number of apprenticeships

Of the 14 recognised AHP professions, the following work at NCIC:

  1. Dietitians
  2. Occupational Therapists
  3. Operating Department Practitioners
  4. Orthoptists
  5. Paramedics
  6. Physiotherapists
  7. Podiatrists
  8. Prosthetists and Orthotists
  9. Radiographers (Diagnostic)
  10. Speech and Language Therapists

Dr Sarah Elliott Associate Director of Allied Health Professionals said, “We are joining the many Trust’s up and down the country who run awards for their AHP colleagues.  Our AHPs demonstrate hard work and dedication day after day in, not only looking after patients in a variety of settings, but also in leading important changes in the health and care sectors.”

There are nine awards that patients, staff or members of the public can nominate for:

  • Supporting population health & well being

This award recognises an AHP team or individual who has delivered improvements that benefit population health, wellbeing and address health inequalities

  • Going the extra mile in delivering care

 This award celebrates our AHPs who have gone the extra mile to deliver high quality care

  • Innovation in digital practice

This award recognises AHPs who have demonstrated innovation in information and communication technologies which can help support and improve patient care

  • Leading improvement

This award recognises the contributions made by AHPs to service improvement, research or audit

  • Quality in action 

This award recognises AHPs who use quality standards to improve the quality of care we give to our service users.

  • Equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging

This award is for those who celebrate diversity, promote equality and belonging, and are at the front of shaping our inclusive culture at NCIC

  • Greener AHP

This award is for AHPs who are actively contributing to delivering our goal of net zero

  • Supporting learning and the future workforce

This award recognises those who support the development of our learners to transform our workforce

  • AHP Champion

This award recognises an AHP who demonstrates dedication and passion to promoting AHPs at NCIC.

Nominations will close on 30th September 2024 and will be reviewed by a judging panel from the senior leadership team and the shortlisted entries will be presented online on 14th October 2024, in conjunction with AHP Day.
