Peter Scott has been appointed as the Trust’s interim Chair from 1st April 2020.

Peter has significant experience of working within the NHS at Executive Director and Non-Executive level for many years. His skills and experience make him incredibly valuable to the Trust at this time.

A recruitment process led by the Trust’s Governors Council had been underway to appoint a permanent Chair, following the resignation of the current Chair Professor Robin Talbot in February.  However, due to the ongoing coronavirus incident, the recruitment process and interviews with potential candidates has been put on hold.

Peter will take on the role as Chair from 1st April leading the Board of Directors and Governors’ Council until the Governor’s Council is in a position to conclude the recruitment process for the substantive position.

Peter said:

“I am extremely happy to be taking on the role as Chair and to help offer my support to the Trust.

“I’ve worked at various levels within the NHS both locally and nationally including previous roles within North Cumbria Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group. I am fully committed to my role as Chair and I’m looking forward to joining the Trust and working with colleagues in North Cumbria at this very demanding time for the NHS.”

Lyn Simpson, Chief Executive at NCIC said:

“Firstly, I would like to thank Peter for stepping in as our Chair whilst we work around our recruitment process in light of the COVID-19 emergency.  At such an unprecedented time it is vital that we have a Trust Chair and I’m pleased that Peter has agreed to take on the role.

“I would also like to thank Professor Robin Talbot for all his hard work, commitment and positivity over the past 3 years during his time as Chair. Robin has been brilliant to work alongside and on behalf of the Trust, I’d like to wish him well in the future.”
