Opening times: 

  • Monday: 9am to 5pm
  • Tuesday: 11:30am to 7:30pm
  • Wednesday: 9am to 5pm
  • Thursday: Closed
  • Friday: 9am to 5pm
  • Saturday: Closed
  • Sunday: Closed

Sexual Health are now running sit and wait clinics across the county. 

  • If you have symptoms you will need to attend a sit and wait clinic. 
  • If you require contraception you will need to attend a contraception sit and wait clinic.
  • If you are interested in the coil or implant you will need to call 01228 608989 to be added to the waiting list.
  • For all other issues call 01228 608989 to find out available appointments to suit your needs.

Available sit and wait clinic times:

  • Monday: 9:30am to 11am for symptoms only
  • Tuesday: 3:30pm to 5pm for age 21 and under only
  • Wednesday: 9:30am to 12 midday for contraception only 
  • Friday: 9:30am to 11am for symptoms only

Derwent Clinic is in the grounds of Workington Community Hospital can be accessed by road and public transport. If you’re on a low income you may be eligible for help with travel costs.

By road

From the A596 north:
  • follow the A596 towards Workington
  • at the roundabout take the 1st exit for Town Centre A597
  • at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit to stay on the A597
  • at the train station, turn left onto Station Road
  • after 1.5 miles turn right onto Park Lane
  • the hospital is on your left
  • the entrance to Derwent Clinic is on the left hand side of the building 
From the A596 south:
  • follow the A596 into Workington
  • at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Washington Street
  • take the 1st left onto the B5297
  • stay on this road for 600 meters
  • turn left onto Park Lane and the hospital is on your left
  • the entrance to Derwent Clinic is on the left hand side of the building 
From the A66:
  • follow the A66 into Workington
  • at Ramsey Brow junction turn left towards the station
  • following the signs for the hospital turn right onto the B5297
  • stay on this road for 600 meters
  • turn left onto Park Lane and the hospital is on your left
  • the entrance to Derwent Clinic is on the left hand side of the building 

By bus

Stagecoach run buses from the surrounding area to Park Lane, which is a 2 minute walk from the hospital. Use the Stagecoach website to plan your journey. 

By train

Northern Rail run trains to Workington from Whitehaven and Maryport. Use the Northern Rail website to plan your journey. From there the hospital is a 7 minute walk.

You can also take a taxi but advance booking is essential. Visit traintaxi.co.uk to find a local cab service.

The main car park is located in front of the main entrance. There are also some spaces at the side and the rear of the building. There are 10 spaces for disabled patients, 6 at the front, 2 at the rear and 2 at the side. There’s also a drop off point outside the main entrance.

Charges

Parking for blue badge holders is free. All other patients and visitors must pay at a payment machine. The machines accept 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins.

  • up to 1 hour 30 mins costs £1
  • up to 3 hours costs £2
  • up to 4 hours 30 mins costs £3
  • more than 4 hours 30 mins costs £5
