Further to the UK Supreme Court Judgement in April 2025, the Trust has considered how we can best support patients and colleagues who are transgender. We would like to reassure trans people that we will continue to see and treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve and can expect under the current UK law. In the NHS, we know that a full review of services will be required because previous guidance advised that trans patients should be accommodated according to their gender identity. While this is under review, the Trust will aim to support trans people in single room facilities, with the exception of patients requiring higher level of care or for initial assessment until the point the patient is able to transfer based on their care needs. If you have any concerns, please raise these with your lead nurse.
