A new cancer centre is currently under construction due to open fully in 2021D5044.jpg​ and the service will be joining with the Northern Centre for Cancer Care i​​​​​​​n ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Newcastle. This means there is a number of vacancies upcoming within the radiotherapy and oncology departments.

The post holders will be employed by NUTH but will primarily work within NCIC to lead and develop Oncology Services, which are currently delivered from on the Carlisle Infirmary site, until the opening of the new Oncology Centre, and within West Cumberland Hospital. It is anticipated that the service, and the staff employed by NCIC working in Oncology Services will be transferred to NUTH in 2021, at a date to be confirmed.
