Congratulations to Julie Wright and Zoe Whitfield, course coordinators. who received the overall winner of the Desmond Excellence Award

A huge well done to Nicky Higgins, Diabetes Education Facilitator who won highly commended Educator of the Year. Desmond Educator of the Year. 

The team have been nominated and won previous awards of Team of the Year and the Innovation Award in recognition of our high quality course delivery.

This year Julie Wright and Zoe Whitfield, course coordinators were shortlisted for the Excellence Award in view of commitment in getting DESMOND up and running post Covid as well as offering access to Saturday and evening courses.

Julie and Zoe offer course attendees as much information and reassurance as possible to enable participants to have the confidence to attend.

Nicky Higgins was shortlisted for Educator of the Year.  She has developed excellent course delivery skills and has supported our new educators in being accredited by DESMOND”  

Annette Routledge, Diabetes Specialist Nurse said “It is a privilege to receive recognition of the hard work that goes into organising courses, recruiting people living with Type 2  Diabetes  to attend, ,having preparation discussions with participants and organising courses/ venues/educators. I want to express my thanks to my colleagues on achieving these excellent standards and winning the awards. It’s a commendable achievement and a testament to the team’s dedication and excellence in helping individuals with Diabetes lead healthier lives.
