We are recruiting a permanent chair to lead the Board of Directors and Governors Council.

The Trust which provides a wide range of community and acute services throughout north Cumbria and beyond, is seeking to appoint a permanent Chair following a period of interim arrangements.

The new Chair will lead the Trust as we move into a new era for healthcare provision to provide more joined up care for patients across community and hospital services and with our system partners.

They will work closely with the Chief Executive, as the Trust continues to focus on the medium and long term sustainability of the Trust, recover from the disruption and challenges caused by Covid-19 and ensure that the right care is delivered to our patients in a timely, high quality and appropriate way.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced board director skilled in building effective teams, leading through change and championing diversity at all levels.

The Trust is also a major employer in Cumbria, which brings a real opportunity to improve education and employment opportunities in the communities we serve, as well as spending more of our money locally and supporting the economy in Cumbria to thrive.

We believe that the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve. We are committed to the aim across the NHS to achieve gender-balanced boards. We particularly welcome applications from females and those from non-binary backgrounds, people from the black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people whom we know are under-represented in non-executive roles.

It is also desirable, though not essential, for applicants to live in, or have close links with Cumbria, with a demonstrable understanding of the geography and the populations we serve.
