A recruitment day is being held on Saturday 12 November 2022 to offer people the chance to join the NHS across north Cumbria as a home care practitioner.

We are looking for motivated and caring people to play a key role in providing care to our patients in their own homes.

There are vacancies in teams based in Carlisle, Eden, Allerdale and Copeland with staff who work together to help get patients discharged from hospital and back to their families and home comforts. Home care practitioners play a key role in the team, working alongside physiotherapists and occupational therapists to promote independence, keep people safe at home and help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

Rachel Jamieson, operational lead for urgent community response at NCIC, explains:

“Becoming a home care practitioner is a great way to join the NHS and can offer a gateway to further training and job progression. We are looking for candidates who either have a care certificate or are willing to complete one with us.

“Providing care out of hospital keeps people in the place they feel most comfortable and empowers people to take more control of their own health and wellbeing. Home care practitioners can also help increase a patient’s confidence and quality of life which is really rewarding.

“The recruitment day will focus on the Trust values of kindness, respect, ambition and collaboration. Candidates will be assessed through a mix of group activities and individual interviews. We want the day to feel relaxed and everyone to feel at ease.”
