Northern Gas Networks are due to start a project on the 27th July for 6 weeks on Church Road/Newtown Road. Due to the nature of the works there will be a road closure and diversion in place.

There will be two separate closures:-

Part 1
The first part of road closure will commence 27th July and will be in place for approximately 3 weeks. The diversion approved by the highways and the council will be via Wigton Road.

Newtown Road will be closed at Caldcotes (McVitties) area with no access to CIC. There will be clear diversions in place for access to the CIC. Traffic will be diverted onto Wigton Road, until it meets the roundabout at Peter Lane, then the bypass to the roundabout of Newtown Road and travel onto Newtown Road.

For vehicles leaving the hospital for access to Caldcotes and the roundabout there will be a single lane open (middle lane).

Part 2 – Wigton Road will be closed. There will be clear diversions in place and more traffic management will be available nearer the time.

There is more detail on the Northern Gas Networks webpages.
