To celebrate Nurses Day this year, NCIC is celebrating all of their incredible nurses asking patients and the local community to share their messages of thanks.

Nurses Day acknowledges and celebrates the commitment and dedication of nurses around the world. The event on 12 May is coordinated by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) to ensure that the invaluable contributions of nurses to the health of people globally are recognised.

The theme this year is: Nurses, a voice to lead, with a focus on ‘Invest in Nursing. Over the past two years, nurses have met extraordinary circumstances to provide vital care to patients.

The theme is particularly pertinent for NCIC as we announced earlier this year they would be investing £3.8m in permanent nursing positions.

Jill FosterJill Forster, Chief Nurse at NCIC:

“The nurses we have here at NCIC deserve to be celebrated, I am proud of the dedication our nurses have shown, particularly through the last two years which has seen our nurses facing unprecedented challenges on a daily basis.

This year’s theme, Invest in Nursing is particularly pertinent as we as a Trust have committed to invest £3.8m in permanent nursing positions which equates to an additional 31 registered nurses and 163 health care assistant posts.

We are also devoted to creating more opportunities to enter the profession, with more routes into nursing than ever before. This will help to support the nurses we already have as well as helping to create our nursing workforce of NCIC’s future.”

Now is the time to celebrate nurses and the work they do. NCIC are encouraging members of the public to get involved in the celebrations ahead of 12 May and show your support for our nurses.
