Our specialist dentistry team have worked incredibly hard to get six emergency dental care sites up and running for most of the Cumbria population after the Chief Dental Officer suspended routine dental care at the end of March which has helped over 1700 people.

The teams have undergone a complete re-design of patient pathways and new ways of working for all. They were able to provide care across the county safely for staff and patients and worked with the local general dental practitioner colleagues, NHS England and NHS111 to make this work in a truly collaborative way.

The Urgent Dental Centres will continue to run over the next couple of months to support general dentist practices in the transition back to activity.

To date they have seen over 400 patients for face to face treatment and 1768 patients have been spoken to for telephone triage where they have been provided with self-care advice, pain relief and antibiotics if required. In addition our staff have been phoning our routine patients providing advice and support if needed.

Pictured here are teams from across Cumbria.
