Denture Care Instructions for Plastic (Acrylic) Dentures
  • Dentures should be cleaned at least once a day and after eating if you like.
  • You should brush your dentures over a filled sink or use a towel. This will stop them breaking if dropped.
  • Use a soft to medium bristled toothbrush or denture brush to clean your denture. If the bristles are too hard it can damage the denture.
  • You should NOT brush your dentures with toothpaste. This may damage the denture which can lead to infections in the mouth.
  • For best results you should use a gentle denture cleaner e.g. Dentu-creme Fresh Mint or Curaprox BDC 100 Denture Cleaning Gel.
  • OR you can soak your dentures in specific cleaners e.g. Steradent Active Plus Denture Cleaner or a supermarket own brands. Follow the instructions that come with the cleaner.
  • Hot water can damage dentures if they are soaked in it.
  • Leave your denture out at night while you sleep. Put it somewhere safe. This could be a glass of water or overnight cleaner.

If you take it out at any other time keep it in a secure pot.
