The team includes Vascular, Diabetes, Podiatry, Orthopaedic and Orthotic clinicians. Clinics will be held weekly in both the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.
The clinic is for patients with diabetes who meet the following criteria:
- New foot ulceration (if new and superficial can be referred to Community Podiatry Service)
- Static or non-healing ulceration
- Extensive ulceration/tissue loss
- Spreading infection/un-resolving cellulitis
- Osteomyelitis
- Gangrene (stable and dry)
- Critical limb ischaemia
- Unexplained hot red swollen foot with or without pain
- Suspicion of acute Charcot arthropathy.
Please bring your home blood glucose readings booklet and meter with you to your appointment.
If this is your first appointment you will have been advised to attend with the practice nurse for up to date blood tests. If you have any questions about this please contact the person who referred you.
Please be aware this appointment may take up to 2 hours as you will be seen by multiple health care professionals and may need to have x-rays/scans while you are here.
