Brandt Daroff exercises

These exercises are a method of treating Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). They succeed in 95% of cases but are more time consuming than the Epley manoeuvre. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22935812) The Brandt - Daroff exercises should be performed for two or three weeks.

Brant Daroff exercises

  • Start sitting upright on the edge of the bed.
  • Turn your head 45 degrees to the left, or as far as is comfortable.
  • Lie down on your right side.
  • Remain in this position for 30 seconds or until any dizziness has subsided.
  • Sit up and turn head back to centre.
  • Turn your head 45 degrees to the right, or as far as is comfortable.
  • Lie down on your left side.
  • Remain in this position for 30 seconds or until any dizziness has subsided.
  • Sit up and turn head back to centre.

This is one cycle. Repeat cycle 5 times to make one set.

Repeat 3 sets per day for 14 days.
