Families who have been affected by baby loss are invited to view a special service of remembrance this Friday from 1pm via the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust website.
The Baby Memorial Service, an annual event in the hospital’s calendar, offers families a chance to reflect on their loss and remember all the babies who have died.
Although the service couldn’t be held in the usual way, the trust felt it was important that we marked the occasion and coincide with national Baby Loss Awareness week, which runs from the 9th to the 15th of October.
Specialist Bereavement Midwife, Kerry Pape said:
“It was really important that we try to hold a service this year, in any way we could. Services like ours give those that have experienced the loss of a child the time and space - to reflect on their memories and to grieve for their loss. Although we were unable to hold the service in the usual manner we hope that the virtual service offers some comfort to the families involved”
The baby memorial service includes, Blessings from the NCIC Chaplaincy team , a poem from Specialist Bereavement Midwife, Andrea Ewing, offering of names, music from soloist Marcus Coupe and readings from Mum, Kate Greenwoods and her daughter Anya.

The service will be available to view via the NCIC website from 1pm on Friday the 9th of October.
