There is no shortage to the activity currently ongoing at West Cumberland Hospital.

Work to phase 2 of WCH is now well underway with the ground floor of the new extension now partially built. The ongoing work includes the delivery and assembly of pre cast moulds as well as the steelwork. This modern and cost effective method of construction allows for the walls to be made off site, transported individually, before slotting into place via a large crane. This method is very efficient and already GRAHAM have made great progress with the ground floor level.

Electrical and pipe work to connect phase 2 with the existing hospital is being undertaken during the night and will continue for the next few weeks.

The work to open the new ring road which will eventually run alongside phase 2 is also ongoing and expected to be complete by March of this year.

Meanwhile there is plenty of refurbishment work taking place inside the hospital itself, with roofing work, repairs to the lift core at levels 4, 5 and 6 and work starting on the corridor at medical physics.
