The innovative recruitment of hundreds of health care assistants into the local NHS has been recognised at a national conference.

The award for innovation and excellence was given to our people services team for their effective on-boarding and HR processes. The Trust has recruited more than 350 Health Care Assistants across eight days by hosting mass recruitment days.

The award was presented at a national conference, hosted by NHS England, celebrating shared learning from Health Care Assistant experiences.Recruitment award - thumbnail.jpg

Amanda Dunkley, Assistant Director People Services, said:

“It was a lovely surprise to be given this award, and I am incredibly proud of the whole team for making these events work and all the behind the scenes effort to improve our processes. It has been a collaborative effort, we have worked closely with nursing colleagues, communications and the practice development teams to make the days successful.

“We have welcomed those who are new to care, rather than excluding anyone who doesn’t have work experience or qualifications in care delivery.

“We know that interviews can be daunting on their own so we provide opportunities outside of this, such as group discussions and activities, for candidates to show their best self. Support teams from recruitment were there at each recruitment day to ensure we could swiftly on-board candidates.

“Each time we hold an event, we are using the feedback to make them even better and even more efficient.”

Each event welcomes candidates to attend a group discussion before their interview, helping to calm nerves and bring out the best in people. A range of other activities such as ID checks, hand hygiene training and infection control, completing start forms and ID badge photos are also included, making the process much quicker if they’re then appointed.

Applications are open for our next event to recruit Bank Health Care Assistant, which will be held on 4th November. Find out more about career opportunities at NCIC.
