Lyn Simpson has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) following a recruitment process.

Lyn has a wealth of clinical and executive director level experience working within the NHS at a local, regional and national level.  Beginning her career as a nurse, Lyn also trained and worked as a midwife and health visitor before progressing into a senior management role.

Her director level experience includes Executive Director of Nursing at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and more recently she has held a number of high profile roles, at the Department of Health, and as Deputy Chief Executive in South London Healthcare NHS Trust.  Lyn is currently the Director of Integration and Transformation in the Tees Valley patch for NHS Improvement.

On this appointment, Lyn said:

“It is with immense pride that I have accepted the position of Chief Executive for North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.  It’s such an exciting time to be joining this newly formed trust and I look forward to working with all staff and partners to deliver the best possible health care for the communities we serve.”

Commenting on the appointment, Chair of NCIC Prof Robin Talbot said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Lyn as Chief Executive.  Her appointment will provide a clear focus on driving our new organisation forward as both a great place to receive care and a great place to work.”

Lyn will join the newly merged trust early in the New Year and will succeed Professor Stephen Eames CBE.

Stephen’s role has changed within the NHS and along with responsibility as the executive lead for the North Cumbria Integrated Care System, he has responsibility supporting other organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber area.
