Aspiring health professionals are being invited to learn more about career opportunities in north Cumbria’s NHS.
The second NHS Careers Pathway event is being held at West Cumberland Hospital in the restaurant area on 25 February between 5 – 7pm. The event will start with a series of small talks from various NHS professionals and the rest of the event will open up with stands where people can chat with those NHS staff and take away some further information.
James Manser, Learning and Development Facilitator at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“The NHS Careers Pathway event is set up to inform young people in the area who are interested in a career within the NHS about the range of careers and opportunities available. “We hope to have as many staff from different areas and professional backgrounds present, to champion their profession and the options available. Many young people enquire about work experience, and it is not always possible to help everyone that contacts us. We hope that this event will allow more young people to be inspired by the work our staff do.”
Amy Cockton, Assistant Learning Facilitator at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We held this event in Carlisle last year, and it was a great success, which is why we want to have another. Young people appreciated the opportunity to hear first-hand from staff about their experiences in their work and the training and education they have undertook to get them to where they are today.
“Work experience is valuable, but what is equally just as valuable is to have that opportunity to ask questions and to learn about the variety of careers available within the NHS. We hope the event will be just as successful at West Cumberland Hospital and hope to see lots of young people come along."
There is no need to book a place, people can simply turn up on the day.
