Our healthcare assistant recruitment day is back!

We are hosting a recruitment day offering a range of Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) opportunities - open to anyone, whether they have previous experience in care or not.

Applications are now live for those interested in starting their NHS career. With multiple vacancies across our Cumbrian hospitals, this event has a strong track record of success.

Anne-Marie Weller, Head of Nursing, Clinical Education and Practice Development, said: “This is an exciting time for our local NHS and alongside our standard vacancies, we are now offering a dedicated development programme for people who want to move into an HCSW role but may not yet have the required qualifications or experience. Candidates who show the right values and potential may be offered a place on the programme, with a band 3 the role held for them while they gain the necessary qualifications and skills. We will also support participants in achieving their maths and English qualifications.

“It’s a chance for people in our own communities to step into rewarding roles and join their local NHS on its improvement journey.

“Many of our colleagues began their journey as HCSWs or through one of our development programmes and have since progressed to complete professional qualifications and degrees to help them progress in their career.”

The recruitment day will be held on Friday 26th June for candidates who are shortlisted, and it will involve speaking to some of our senior nursing colleagues, an interview and the usual employment checks all in one to provide a more efficient route to employment.
