“Come and join us for some fun, take part in the activities, meet some of the staff and learn more about what happens at the hospital. Wigton Hospital provides exceptional services to the local population saving them from having to travel to Carlisle or Whitehaven for some key services, come and find out more and hear about the changes that have happened since 2018.”

Hannah explains just some of the changes at Wigton Hospital:

“The Day Unit works more closely with GPs to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population. It provides intravenous antibiotics, blood transfusions and supports patients with wound and catheter care. The Rehabilitation suite is now available to support and improve the physical and mental wellbeing of patients. We now have programmes which are designed to enable patients to achieve their optimal potential and confidence.”

Hannah added:

“There is also the new Pulmonary Fibrosis support group, which is held once a month in the Oxygen Unit. The informal group is for people diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and other interstitial lung disease. There is also the addition of a modern learning space for staff which will be used for teaching, learning and study with a wellbeing corner to read and relax.

"Other teams which are based at the hospital are the Midwifery team, Dialysis Team, Physiotherapists Dermatology and Respiratory teams.

“Wigton Hospital provides an exceptional range of services to the local population saving them from having to travel to Carlisle or Whitehaven.”
