  • multinodular goitre – a swelling of the thyroid that causes a lump in the neck

If you’re referred to us, we’ll invite you in for an assessment with one of our specialists. During the assessment we’ll discuss your medical history, the symptoms you have and any medication you’re taking. We may also do some tests and investigations such as:

  • blood tests
  • a thyroid scan
  • a DEXA scan (a bone density X-ray)
  • a CT scan
  • an MRI scan
  • an ultrasound scan
  • a biopsy

 

Once we’ve reviewed your test results, we’ll invite you in for a follow up appointment to discuss your options in detail and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. This may include things like:

  • advice and education on how to manage your symptoms
  • a change to your medication
  • new medication
  • dietary supplements
  • a surgical procedure
  • radiotherapy
  • chemotherapy
