Ceremony marks start of building £15m Endoscopy Unit at the Cumberland Infirmary

A ceremony took place in Carlisle today to celebrate the start of building of a £15m Endoscopy Unit on the grounds of the Cumberland Infirmary. Once complete, the new endoscopy unit will be able to treat more patients, helping to reduce our waiting list and improve timely diagnosis, particularly for cancers. 

Inaugural AHP awards - nominations now open

The inaugural AHP awards to celebrate Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have been launched. There are nine awards that patients, staff or members of the public can nominate for. Closing date is 30th September.

School aged immunisation team achieve highest vaccination rate in England

Cumbria has the highest vaccination rate in England for HPV vaccination in girls. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common group of viruses that cause nearly every case of cervical cancer. Since the introduction of the UK’s HPV vaccination programme a decade ago, cervical cancer rates have declined by almost 90% in women, now in their 20s, who were offered the vaccination aged 12 to 13.

Footy Fundraiser

Tubby Football Club and NHS International Football Club, joined together this year to raise money for the Breast Cancer services at West Cumberland Hospital.

National HIV Testing Week

Professor Matt Phillips, Deputy Medical Director and Sexual Health Consultant is reminding the public that clinics are available across the county where people can get tested and that the treatments are now effective.
