As well as our own team, the CHIS system is used by the Health Visiting service, the Strengthening Families service, the Maternity service, Children’s Community Nursing service, GPs, schools and public health services. We help to schedule, record and monitor public health programmes and manage enquiries about the health of local children and young people.

We also work with health visitors and other agencies to make sure all in Cumbria are offered The Healthy Child programme. The programme involves a series of reviews, tests and immunisations that take place in your child’s home, school or local clinic.

If you and your child are new to Cumbria, we’ll refer you to the Health Visiting service and make sure your child’s health records are sent to us. Similarly, if you’re moving out of the area we’ll make sure your child’s health records are sent to the NHS Trust who’ll be looking after you.

CHIS also supports the Children Looked After service by identifying children who are placed in the care of local authorities. We make sure all of the child’s information is accurate and up to date and request their records if they are held by another Trust.
