David Lung Cancer screening.jpg

David was invited to attend a routine lung screening

This decision proved life-saving. The screening revealed two small nodules that were diagnosed as lung cancer.

We are offering the service to each GP practice starting with the GP practices with the highest deprivation scores first.  We will cover one GP practice at a time contacting all the eligible patients and then moving on to the next GP practice we aim to cover all the practices within a four year rolling programme.

A text message will be sent to those patients alerting them the service will be contacting them, and then a member of the team will be in touch by telephone to arrange an appointment for a lung health check allowing time to ask questions about the service.

Those who have a scan that does not show any sign of lung cancer will remain in the programme and will get a low dose CT scan of the chest every two years until they are no longer within the age range of 55 – 74yrs + 364 days.

Our core team is made up of Admin staff, and Lung Screening Care Co-ordinators, Lung Screening Nurses, Respiratory Consultants, and Consultant Radiologists.

It is important if you have any of the following symptoms that are persisting please seek a urgent review by your GP:
