Upper GI
The Upper GI team diagnose and treat conditions that affect your food pipe, stomach, and the first part of your small intestine. This includes diseases like cancer but we also treat less serious problems like acid reflux, gallstones and hernias.
Vascular Surgery
The Vascular Surgery team assess, diagnose and treat conditions that affect blood circulation. We correct and manage problems affecting veins, arteries and the lymphatic vessels. We treat all parts of the vascular system excluding the heart and brain.

Cardiology
The Cardiology service diagnose, assess and treat diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system). The service is provided by consultant cardiologists, registrars, specialist nurses and cardiac physiologists.
Gynaecology
The Gynaecology service diagnose and treat conditions related to women’s reproductive health. We investigate things like fertility problems, pelvic pain and infections, perform gynaecology surgery, and run clinics around concerns such as contraception, fertility and oncology care.
Endocrine Surgery
The Endocrine Surgery service specialise in investigating and treating conditions that affect the thyroid and parathyroid glands. We do diagnostic clinics, surgical procedures and follow up clinics.
Diabetes
If you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes, the Cumbria Diabetes service can help and support you to manage your condition and reduce your risk of developing complications. We also run 5 specialist clinics and 3 courses that you can read more about below.
Radiotherapy
The Radiotherapy service treat and care for patients with cancer. Our specialist team are here to support you at every stage of your treatment and ongoing care.

Medical Gas and Medical Pipeline System Policy
This policy is to ensure the effective management of medical gases within the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC). This includes the provision of safe, secure and reliable systems, including medical gas pipelines, cylinders and associated equipment.
Medicines - Possession of Substances Liable to Abuse Policy
This Policy sets out the procedures that must be implemented if staff suspect that a patient in their care or a visitor is illegally in possession of, or supplying or using what is believed to be or suspected of being an illicit substance.
Medicines Reconciliation for Adult Patients Policy
This policy sets out the procedural steps needed to ensure that an accurate medication history is taken for patients on admission to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) hospitals.
Self Administration of Medicines Policy
This policy gives guidance to the circumstances where self-administration of medicines by patients when in a hospital setting is approved and supported. It also allows for patients/carers administering medicines to patients, where this is usual practice at home.
